Niger Coup: President Tinubu Seeks Senate’s Approval To Deploy Troops
President Bola Tinubu has written the Senate seeking support for implementation of the resolutions of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS to restore democracy in Niger Republic and reinstate the ousted President, Mohamed Bazoum
The request is contained in a letter read by the president of the senate Godswill Akpabio. According to President Tinubu, ECOWAS under his leadership condemned the coup in its entirety and resolved alongside other members of the international community to seek the return of the democratically elected government in Niger Republic.
He added that in a bid to broker peace and restore democracy in the country, ECOWAS convened an extra-ordinary summit of the Authority of Heads of State and Government on, Sunday, July 30.
